Mama Joyce’s children are all hard-working, social, and beautiful kids. The children’s father passed away several years ago. Alex, Shedrockes, and Sharon are the only kids currently in school.
Living in the dusty mining town of Mererani, Tanzania, and lacking the capital to start her own business, Mama Joyce turned a $250 donation by IBSH in September, 2016 into a bustling dried fish business that had profited approximately $500 after just 2 months (a sizeable amount of money relative to her previous living standards).
It is our hopes to use the success of Mama Joyce’s small business as a template for other families. By creating a more sustainable source of income for some of our other families, we can ultimately heighten their standard of living beyond education and healthcare.
